The Inland Empire Father Involvement Coalition (IEFIC), started in 2013, is a group of community, county, and faith-based organizations, collaborating and pooling resources, services, and expertise to reduce father absenteeism and support father engagement. We do this by providing: Education opportunities, father’s day breakfasts, fatherhood conferences and ongoing parent education through fatherhood programs in the community. Support services that are coordinated, accessible and father-friendly. Outreach to develop partnerships and promote positive images of fatherhood through media (i.e. social media, live streaming advertisements and bus ads). Evaluation of our program’s outcomes and identification of best practices for father engagement.

The Early Start Family Resource Network provides a coordinated network of parent-to-parent support throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in California. The ESFRN provides supportive services which include education, resources, and training to families with children who are at risk for or are experiencing delays or disabilities. We believe the family plays the central role in all aspects of the decision-making process by utilizing their strengths and engaging in parent/professional collaboration. What is the Child Abuse Prevention Council? A Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) is an organization that works to move the prevention work forward at the community level. They function as the catalyst, convener, and coordinator of the countywide activities and approach to prevent child abuse. CAPCs focus on bringing together county and community partners to work in unity because not one system or entity can prevent child abuse. CAPCs focus on: Promoting community engagement to protect children and reduce rates of child abuse. A collaborative approach to developing traditional and non-traditional partnerships for reducing child maltreatment. Developing prevention efforts through public awareness and education.

In response, the CDE developed the California Practitioners’ Guide for Educating English Learners with Disabilities to provide information on identifying, assessing, supporting, and reclassifying ELs who may qualify for special education services and pupils with disabilities who may be classified as ELs. Further, the publication provides a deeper dive into accessing actionable examples of how evidence based pedagogy and practices may be implemented in districts, schools, and classrooms to positively impact multilingual and English learner students.

The California Department of Education (CDE) developed a series of videos demonstrating integrated ELD instruction and its related designated ELD instruction during ELA, mathematics, and science. The Integrated and Designated ELD Video Series demonstrates the relationship between the California English Language Development Standards (CA ELD Standards) and the state content standards. When used in tandem, English learner students build English proficiency, refine academic use of English, and access subject area content in transitional kindergarten/kindergarten through grade twelve.
